Sixth International Symposium on Osteoporosis: Current Status and Future Directions

April 6 - 10, 2005
Washington, DC.

Call for Late Breaking Abstracts

  • The National Osteoporosis Foundation is currently accepting submissions for late-breaking abstracts to be presented as posters at the 6th International Symposium on Osteoporosis: Current Status and Future Directions.
  • Late breaking abstracts are those that report research findings of significant scientific merit and that report findings that were not available by the prior abstract deadline of December 15, 2004.
  • All authors must complete the Faculty Disclosure Form available on the submissions site. Without full disclosure of all conflicts of interest for authors, late breaking abstracts will not be considered.
  • NOTE: Tables and/or images are not allowed in the body of the abstract. Please follow instructions closely for submitting text and characters that require special formatting.

Qualifications and Eligibility

Presenters must have attained a degree of MD; PhD; be a postdoctoral candidate, with submission approved by a Training Director; or be an allied health professional with professional certification.

Abstracts should relate to the general theme of the 6th ISO and contain information about the study purpose, rationale, design, sample size, population, major results, and major conclusions. Text is limited to 600 words maximum; text that exceeds the word limit will not be accepted.

Authors must adhere to guiding principles for experimental procedures. See NIH Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and The Declaration of Helsinki of the World Medical Association, and refer to the policy established by your Institutional Review Board.

The presenting author is required to communicate in English when presenting, as this is the designated language for the meeting. Presenters must register for the meeting by April 1, 2005 or their abstracts will be disqualified. Meeting registration fees for the Symposium are the responsibility of the presenters and must be paid in order to present an abstract.

Late breaking abstract submission deadline: March 10, 2005 (midnight, EDT)

Withdrawals will not be accepted after: March 15, 2005 (midnight, EDT)

Notification of acceptance: On or before March 20, 2005

Late breaking abstracts are presented as posters. Each poster will be displayed on a 4 ft. x 8 ft. display board. Abstracts will be reviewed and scored by the Symposium Planning Committee members or their representatives. Late breaking abstracts that are accepted by the Abstract Review Committee will be distributed on-site to attendees, but will not appear in the Program and Abstracts book for the meeting.

At the discretion of the Planning Committee, abstracts may be presented orally if they have not been accepted for publication or presented orally at another scientific meeting prior to the abstract submission deadline. Prior publication as an abstract, presentation orally or as a poster, or presentation at a regional meeting does not preclude its submission for poster presentation.
